Arctic Adventures – Lesson 17
“I can segment words by hopping.”
Objective: To segment words. (RF.K.2)
Materials: colored circle cut-outs
Procedures: Cut out three large circles from colored oaktag. Place them in a row. Say a word such as “mud”. Your child will segment the word saying one sound at a time as he hops on each circle. (m…u…d) This is a fun outdoor activity, especially in the snow!
Conclusion: Reverse roles. Have your child say words for you to segment and hop!
