In this lesson, your child will compare our two new letter-sounds, r and n.

AA lesson 6

Arctic Adventures – Lesson 6

“I can sort pictures that begin with r and n.”

Objective: To review letters r and n and to sort pictures by their beginning sound. (RF.K.1, RF.K.3)

Materials: letter cards (r, n) and picture cards (r, n).

Procedures: Place letter cards r and n on the table. Ask your child to identify each letter and to trace them with her index finger while saying the sound that each letter makes. Give your child a small basket of picture cards. Have her choose a card, one at a time. If the picture begins with /r/, she will place it beside the r. If it begins with /n/, she will place it beside the n.

Conclusion: Have your child say the letter and pictures in each row from left to right.
