Barnyard Buddies – Lesson 10

I can identify short vowel sounds.

Objective: To identify short vowel sounds. (RF.K.2)

Materials: large dog bone shapes, marker, clipart, playdough

Procedures: Cut out 10 bone shapes. Write a cvc word on each, replacing the vowel with a blank line. Glue a picture to each bone. Your child will identify the picture and form the vowel using playdough. Continue until all the bones have a vowel.

Conclusion: Have your child think of two different words for each of the vowels and list them on lined paper.
