Family Fun – Lesson 16
I can sort words by their word family.
Objective: To sort words by their word family. (RF.K.2)
Materials: Duplo blocks, labels, markers
Procedures: Choose word families that you would like your child to practice. Write them in red on labels. Attach the labels to Duplo blocks. With a black marker, write decodable words from each word family on labels and attach the labels to more blocks. Your child will choose a block, read the word and connect it to the correct word family. Continue until all of the “walls” have been built.
Conclusion: Your child will read the words again on each wall. Then he will write a word from each word family on a wipe off board.
