It’s always good practice to play rhyming games to develop stronger phonemic awareness skills. Today’s lesson combines art and reading, a great combination!

Down on the Farm – Lesson 27
I can match words that rhyme.
Objective: To match words that rhyme. (RF.K.2)
Materials: construction paper, paint set, index cards, marker, basket
Procedures: Have your child cut out egg shapes to decorate. When dry, write sets of rhyming words on the eggs and the index cards. Tell your child he is a bunny who has to find words that rhyme. He will choose a card, read the word and hop around the room to find an egg that has a word that rhymes with the word on his card. Continue until all of the eggs have been gathered.
Conclusion: Have your child think of additional words that rhyme with each picture.
