Here is a clever way to use craft sticks for decoding words.
In the Meadow – Lesson 24
I can read decodable words.
Objective: To read decodable words. (RF.K.3)
Materials: craft sticks, marker
Procedures: Place two craft sticks together lengthwise and touching each other. Write a decodable word on the two sticks so that it covers both sticks. Continue with different words on sets of two sticks. Mix up the sticks and your child will build the craft stick “puzzles”. As each word is put together, he will read the word.
Conclusion: Have your child read the words again and to write five of them on a magna doodle.
