Today’s lesson combines art and reading when your child gets to make her own magic wands to practice vowel sounds!

Medieval Magic – Lesson 13

I can identify short vowel sounds.

Objective: To identify short vowel sounds. (RF.K.2)

Materials: five star cut-outs, five straws, glitter glue, tape

Procedures: Have your child write a vowel on each of the stars. Then she can decorate them with glitter glue. Tape each of the stars to a straw. Say a word. Your child will listen for the vowel sound and hold up the corresponding magic wand.
