This singing/rhyming activity is a great follow-up to the first Medieval Magic book, The King, which is a story about a king who loved to sing!
Medieval Magic – Lesson 5
I can rhyme words.
Objective: To rhyme words. (RF.K.2)
Materials: word cards
Procedures: Spread word cards on the table. To the tune of London Bridge, sing:
Find the word that rhymes with king,
Rhymes with king,
Rhymes with king,
Find the word that rhymes with king
And read it to me.
You can change up the activity by giving different clues such as, find the word that begins with /fr/ or find the word that ends with /sh/, etc. This activity is fun because it involves singing and improves listening skills.
Conclusion: Ask your child to give you clues to find the words. Then have your child write the words on lined paper.
