What could be more fun than practicing sight words with a snowball fight!
Arctic Adventures – Lesson 18
“I can read sight words. (up, had, and, but)”
Objective: To read sight words. (RF.K.3)
Materials: sight word cards, white paper, marker
Procedures: Your child will actually be able to sound out these sight words even though they are considered high-frequency words. Using word cards, teach your child to memorize the sight words: up, had, and, but) Have your child copy the words in shaving cream while saying them. On sheets of white paper, write sight words. Crumple the sheets of paper into balls and have a “snowball fight” with your child. When you say “freeze”, your child will pick up a snowball, un-crumple it and read the sight word. Then continue the snowball fight until all of the words have been read.
Conclusion: Your child will read the new sight word cards again.
