Using play-doh in a lesson is always lots of fun. After you child “smashes” each letter, you can roll them back up again and write more letters on them. I thought the marker would ruin the play-doh, but it was fine to write on again!
Arctic Adventure – Lesson 26
“I can identify 15 letters.”
Objective: To identify letters a, b, c, d, f, g, h, m, n, o, p, r, s, t, u (RF.K.1)
Materials: playdough, sharpie, cookie sheet, hammer
Procedures: Make balls of playdough and place them on a cookie sheet. Write a letter on each ball. Give your child a hammer. Say a letter and he will “smash” the ball that has the letter.
Conclusion: Your child will say the name and sound of each letter. Make new snowballs and play again, only this time, say the sound or say a word instead of the letter name.
