Today your child will practice writing the new letters in cinnamon and sugar, another fun tactile writing medium.
Arctic Adventures – Lesson 9
“I can write letters d, g, r, n, and u.”
Objective: To write letters d, g, r, n and u using correct letter formation and to identify the sounds. (L.K.2)
Materials: salt, Styrofoam tray, cinnamon/sugar mixture, letter cards (d, g, r, n, u)
Procedures: Spread a thin layer of cinnamon and sugar on the bottom of a styrofoam tray. Hold up the letter n card. Your child will use her index finger to form n in the cinnamon/sugar while reciting, “n says /n/, n says /n/. Your child will “erase” the n and continue the activity with different letters. Guide her hand if necessary to be sure she is forming the letters with the correct strokes.
Conclusion: Your child will name the five letters and sounds.
