Your child will begin Set 2, Around the World lessons by learning two new sight words. You can have her practice writing the sight words in any substance but I chose colored rice for this lesson. Tactile writing helps the brain to remember the sight words better than by simply looking at the words.
Around the World – Lesson 1
“I can identify sight words. (go, to)”
Objective: To identify sight word: go, to (RF.K.3)
Materials: sight word cards, styrofoam tray, colored rice
Procedures: Using word cards, teach your child to memorize the sight words: go, to. Spread a thin layer of rice onto the bottom of a styrofoam tray. Have your child copy the words in the rice using her index finger while repeating each word.
Conclusion: Your child will read the sight words on the word cards.
