It’s fun to combine art with reading. This lesson goes along with our study of China in Book 2, Pat.
Around the World – Lesson 10
“I can spell cvc words.”
Objective: To spell cvc words. (RF.K.2)
Materials: white copy paper, paint set, water, ribbon, stapler
Procedures: Give your child a paint set of watercolors and a sheet of white construction paper. Say a cvc word and he will paint the word anywhere on the paper. Continue giving him words to paint until there is no more room. When dry, show your child how to fold the paper in to a fan shape. Staple one end, tie a ribbon from the staple and unfold it to see the colorful fan.
Conclusion: Ask your child to look for words to read on the unfolded fan.
