Here is another lesson to go along with our last book, Pat. Children love looking for hidden objects! Your child will have fun reading each cvc word as it is revealed in the rice.
Around the World – Lesson 11
“I can read cvc words.”
Objective: To fluently read cvc words. (RF.K.2)
Materials: an empty clear plastic jar, rice, small blank cards, marker
Procedures: Wash out a large, clear peanut butter jar and fill it three fourths full of rice. Write cvc and/or sight words from sets 1 and 2 on the blank cards. Place the word cards in the jar. Your child will slowly turn the jar and read any word that is uncovered.
Conclusion: Have your child write five different words that he found.
