Before we leave Mexico, here is one last lesson involving sentences, a piñata and candy! Doesn’t that sound like fun?
Around the World – Lesson 23
“I can read sentences.”
Objective: To fluently read sentences. (RF.K.4)
Materials: sentence strips, marker, candy, bag, tissue, glue, construction paper.
Procedures: Write sentences from previous books. Tape a piece of candy to each sentence strip. Make a piñata by gluing tissue to a bag and adding features from construction paper. Place the sentence strips in the bag. Your child will choose a sentence strip from the piñata and read the sentence. Continue until all the sentences have been read.
Conclusion: Enjoy a taco night for dinner. Then your child can read the sentences again and enjoy the candy for an after-dinner treat!
