It’s helpful to continue to practice the letter sounds that your child has learned. If you have a little suitcase, it would be fun to use it for this phonics lesson. You could use objects instead of pictures.
Around the World – Lesson 6
“I can match pictures to their beginning letter-sounds.”
Objective: To match pictures to their beginning letter-sounds. (RF.K.1. RF.K.3)
Materials: small suitcase, plastic letters, picture cards
Procedures: Fill a small suitcase with several picture cards, or real objects. Line up the plastic letters. Your child will choose an item from Sam’s suitcase and match it to the beginning sound. Continue until the suitcase is empty.
Conclusion: Have your child name the pictures for each letter. Build language skills by asking why Sam might want to take each item on his world travels.
