In this story, your child will travel with Sam to China to visit Pat! When I was still teaching kindergarten (before I retired), I made my students passports for our Children Around the World theme. After they got their passport stamped, we pretended to board the plane and I pretended to be the pilot welcoming them and announcing the weather, etc. Sometimes we even hit turbulence! Don’t forget to help your child find China on the map or globe. With technology, you could even use Google Maps! Before this technology, we drew a line on our laminated map with a marker from one destination to the next. This is such a fun theme to learn about different cultures, too! (I miss teaching!) You don’t have to limit your child to just the few places in this set of books! There are so many cultures to explore! After we get through all the lesson plans for the Half-Pint Readers, I will blog about classroom activities for each theme. Since two of my daughters are teaching kindergarten, we should have lots of ideas and pictures to share!
