What could be a more fun way to practice sight words than choosing a duck from the pond!
Barnyard Buddies – Lesson 25
I can read sight words.
Objective: To read sight words. (RF.K.3)
Materials: rubber duckies, permanent marker, bin of water, green paper
Procedures: Use a permanent marker to write sight words on the bottom of several rubber duckies. Place the ducks in a bin of water. On green paper, write the same sight words. This will be the grass. Your child will choose a duck from the pond, read the sight word and place it on the corresponding word on the “grass”. Continue until the pond is empty. Another activity is to write pairs of matching sight words on the ducks and play memory. You and your child will take turns finding the matching pairs of ducks.
Conclusion: Have your child “paint” several sight words with water using a paint brush and a chalkboard.
