Objective: To decode real and nonsense words. (RF.K.2)
Materials: two baskets, sea shells, marker
Procedures: Write real and nonsense decodable words on the shells. Label two baskets as real and nonsense. Your child will choose a shell, read the word and place it in the correct basket.
Conclusion: After all the words have been read, your child can count to see which basket has more shells.
