I like to find different things to use for tactile writing. For this lesson, your child will write sight words in oats!
Digging Up Dinosaurs – Lesson 21
“I can read sight words! (did, yes, get, little)”
Objective: To identify sight words, did, get, yes, little. (RF.K.3)
Materials: Sight word cards, dry oats, tray.
Procedures: Remind your child that some words are called sight words or high-frequency words. Some of the sight words are easy to decode but often they are not decodable. So it is best to learn these words from memory based upon how they look. Sight words appear frequently in what we are reading. So in order to read fluently, these words should be practiced and memorized. Using word cards, teach your child to memorize the sight words: did, get, yes, little. Have your child copy the words in a tray of oats while saying them.
Conclusion: Your child will read the four sight words on the word cards.
