 I can identify the “tr” and “ch” sounds.

Objective: To identify the “tr” and “ch” sounds. (RF.K.2)

Materials: picture cards, tr and ch cards, styrofoam tray, cornmeal.

Procedures: Display the tr blend card and the ch digraph card. Talk about the sounds and how sometimes these sounds can be confusing. Give your child picture cards to match to the correct letter cards. Then have your child spell words such as trip, chop, trap, truck, chug, etc. in the cornmeal.

Conclusion: Let your child be the teacher. She will give you “tr” and “ch” words to spell in the cornmeal
