What could be more fun than knocking over the word cups with a party favor blow-out?

Family Fun – Lesson 31

I can decode words.

Objective: To decode words. (RF.K.3)

Materials: party cups, marker, long narrow box, wrapping paper, party favor blow-outs

Procedures: Write decodable words on paper cups (front and back). Find a long narrow box and place a small surprise inside. Wrap the box with birthday paper. Place four cups on top of the box. Give your child a party favor blow-out. Say a word. Your child will blow on the favor to knock off the cup that has that word on it. When all four cups have been knocked down, turn them around and play again. Continue until all of the words have been knocked down.

Conclusion: Have your child read each word to you again. Then let him open the present!
