Down on the Farm – Lesson 31

I can spell words!

Objective: To spell cvc words using plastic letters. (RF.K.2)

Materials: tub of dirt, lima beans, permanent marker, small shovel or rake

Procedures: Fill a small tub with dirt. Write letters on lima beans and bury them in the dirt. Your child will dig for the letters. When all of the letters have been found, ask your child to spell cvc words.

Conclusion: Let your child use the letters to spell words for you to read. Have your child choose five words to write on lined paper.
