Fish crackers make learning letter Ff not only fun, but tasty, too!
Forest Fun – Lesson 18
“I can name letter f and the /f/ sound.”
Objective: To identify letter f and the /f/ sound. (RF.K.1, RF.K.3)
Materials: letter f sandpaper card, construction paper, scissors, marker, fish crackers, glue
Procedures: Display the letter f sandpaper card. Say, “This is letter f. The sound of f is /f/.” (Demonstrate how to place your top teeth over your bottom lip and force air out to make the fffffff sound.) Model how letter f is formed. Have your child trace letter f on the sandpaper card using his index finger. While tracing, he will repeat, “f says /f/, f says /f/.” Make a letter f on construction paper and cut it out. Have your child glue fish crackers on the letter f.
Conclusion: Ask your child to name letter f and to say three words that begin with /f/. Then enjoy a snack of fish crackers together!
