Forest Fun – Lesson 2
“I can name letter b and the /b/ sound.”
Objective: To identify letter b and the /b/ sound. (RF.K.1, RF.K.3)
Materials: letter b sandpaper card, construction paper, buttons, glue
Procedures: Display the letter b sandpaper card. Say, “This is letter b. The sound of b is /b/.” (Be careful to say only the /b/ sound without adding “uh” to it.) Model how letter b is formed. Have your child trace b on the sandpaper card using her index finger. While tracing, she will repeat, “b says /b/, b says /b/. Draw or use a stencil to make letter b on construction paper and cut it out. Have your child glue buttons on the letter b.
Conclusion: Ask your child to identify letter b and the /b/ sound.
