Here is a sticky but sweet tactile writing lesson that your child is sure to enjoy! It goes along well with the book, Pam.
Forest Fun – Lesson 35
“I can write a letter for each sound that I hear.”
Objective: To write the letter that represents a sound. (L.K.1)
Materials: maple syrup, plate
Procedures: Spread a small amount of maple syrup on a plate. Explain to your child how she will use her index finger to write a letter in the syrup. Say a sound such as /h/. Your child will write letter h in the syrup and then “erase” it. Continue with different letter sounds. For sweet fun, allow her to occasionally lick her finger!
Conclusion: Let your child choose her favorite sound to write in the syrup. And then enjoy some pancakes with maple syrup for a snack!
