Forest Fun – Lesson 4
“I can name letter c and the /c/ sound.”
Objective: To identify letter c and the /c/ sound. (RF.K.1, RF.K.3)
Materials: letter c sandpaper card, candy corn
Procedures: Display the letter c sandpaper card. Say, “This is letter c. The sound of c is /c/.” (Be careful to say only the /c/ sound without adding “uh” to it. Use the hard sound of c as in cat, not celery.) Model how letter c is formed. Have your child trace letter c on the sandpaper card using her index finger. While tracing, she will repeat, “c says /c/, c says /c/.” Have your child form letter c with candy corn.
Conclusion: Ask your child to identify letter c and the /c/ sound.
