Using your senses makes learning stick. In today’s sight word lesson, your child will use her sense of sight, touch and smell!
In the Meadow – Lesson 10
I can read sight words: so, yellow.
Objective: To read sight words: so, yellow (RF.K.3)
Materials: cinnamon, tray, Q-tip, sight word cards
Procedures: Place a thin layer of cinnamon on a tray. Tell your child she will learn two new sight words. Show her the sight word card “so”. Have her trace and name each letter and then she will say the word. Repeat with the sight word “yellow.” Then have her copy each word several times in the cinnamon with the Q-tip while she says them.
Conclusion: Have your child use each of the two sight words in a sentence and then she will write the sentences.
