I can decode words.


Objective: To decode words. (RF.K.3)

Materials: wipe off board, marker, eraser, craft stick, snail clipart

Procedures: Tape a picture of a snail to a craft stick. Talk about the story and how Snail slid back down the slippery slope. Tell your child to draw a slippery slope on the wipe off board. Spell decodable words by writing the letters going down the slope. Your child will use the snail pointer to sound out the word by moving the snail down the slope.

Conclusion: Have your child write words on the slope for you to read.
