This is a really fun game to play with your child to review sight words. I love the giggles when the tiger cub is found!
Jumping Jungle – Lesson 21
“I can read sight words!”
Objective: To read sight words. (RF.K.3)
Materials: brown and green construction paper, marker, scissors, glue, small tiger cub clip art
Procedures: To play “Where is the Cub?” create five jungle trees with brown and green construction paper and write a sight word on each. Create a small tiger cub with clipart, small enough to hide behind a tree. Ask your child to cover his eyes while you hide the cub. Then ask him to uncover his eyes. You will chant: “Little cub behind a tree, do you have a word for me?” Your child will guess a sight word and see if the cub is hiding there. He will continue guessing until the cub is found. Hide the cub again and the game continues.
Conclusion: Let your child hide the cub for you to find. When finished playing, have your child read all the sight words again.
