Jumping Jungle – Lesson 4
“I can identify letter v and the /v/ sound.”
Objective: To identify letter v and the /v/ sound. (RF.K.1, RF.K.3)
Materials: letter v sandpaper card, vegetables, knife, large paper, paint
Procedures: Display the letter v sandpaper card. Say. “This is letter v. The sound of v is /v/.” (Be careful to say only the /v/ sound without adding “uh” to it.) Model how letter v is formed. Have your child trace letter v on the sandpaper card using his index finger. While tracing, your child will repeat, “v says /v/, v says /v/.” Slice the vegetables in half. Your child will paint a thin layer of paint on the cut side of the vegetables and press them on the paper to make vegetable prints.
Conclusion: Ask your child to identify v and the /v/ sound. Then create a veggie salad together for lunch!
