Instead of using pictures that begin with x, I used ones that end in x such as, box, T-Rex, fox, etc.
Jumping Jungle – Lesson 6
“I can sort pictures that begin with v or end with x.”
Objective: To review letters v and x and to sort pictures by their beginning or ending sound. (RF.K.3)
Materials: letter cards (v, x) and picture cards (v, x).
Procedures: Place letter cards v and x on the table. Ask your child to identify each letter and to trace them with her index finger while saying the sound that each letter makes. Give your child a small basket of picture cards. Have her choose a card one at a time. If the picture begins with /v/, she will place it beside the v. If it ends with /x/, she will place it beside the x.
Conclusion: When all the cards have been placed in their correct rows, have your child name the letters and the pictures in each row from left to right.
