We will begin our jungle safari books by learning two new sight words. If your child does not have a magna doodle, it would make a great gift. It was our main teaching tool when our kids were little because it was so convenient. Our family went through a lot of magna doodles over the years. With four kids, someone would forget and leave it on the floor and it would accidentally get stepped on! That’s the only downside.
Jungle Safari – Lesson 1
“I can read sight words.”
Objective: To read sight words. (has, like) (RF.K.3)
Materials: sight word cards, magna doodle
Procedures: Tell your child he is going to learn two more sight words. These are words that are to be memorized by how they look. Give your child a magna doodle to write on. Hold up the sight word card, “has” and read it to your child. Your child will copy the word on the magna doodle while repeating the word. Follow the same procedure for the word “like.”
Conclusion: Your child will read the new sight word cards again. Ask your child to use each sight word in a sentence.
