Jungle Safari – Lesson 12

“I can write cvc words.”

Objective: To write cvc words. (RF.K.2)

Materials: large styrofoam tray, peanut butter, peanut butter cookies

Procedures: Spread a thin layer of peanut butter* on the tray. Say a word such as “nut”. Your child will identify the beginning, middle and ending sounds to spell the word in the peanut butter using her index finger. Monitor your child as she writes her letters to be sure she is using the correct formation. “Erase” and continue with different words.

Conclusion: Let your child write her favorite word and then enjoy peanut butter cookies for a snack! Better yet, follow a recipe together to make the cookies from scratch!

*Of course, you would use something other than peanut butter if your child has a peanut allergy!!
