It’s time to write about crocodiles!
Jungle Safari – Lesson 15
“I can write about crocodiles.”
Objective: To use inventive writing to write a story. (W.K.2)
Materials: journal, pencil, crayons
Procedures: Help your child to research alligators and crocodiles with non-fiction books. Compare the two reptiles. For a writing prompt, ask your child to write a fact about an alligator or a crocodile. Encourage your child to use spaces between words, punctuation at the end of the sentence and to use letter-sounds that he hears in words. Then he will illustrate his story. Write the actual words under his sentence for clarification.
Conclusion: Have your child read his story to you again. Talk about his neat illustrations and how you learned something about crocodiles.
