This lesson is great for kids who like to play in the dirt! (I actually used coffee grounds in this photo instead of dirt.) What a fun way to spell cvc words!
Jungle Safari – Lesson 16
“I can spell cvc words!”
Objective: To spell cvc words using plastic letters. (RF.K.2)
Materials: tub of dirt, plastic letters, strainer, small shovel or rake
Procedures: Fill a small tub with dirt. Bury plastic letters in the dirt. Your child will dig for the letters. As letters are found, ask your child to spell cvc words.
Conclusion: Let your child use the letters to spell words and you will read them to her. Then, if you are brave enough, add water to the tub of dirt to make mud pies together!
