In this tactile sight word lesson, your child will be writing in cookie crumbs that she gets to crumble herself! Now how fun is that!
Medieval Magic – Lesson 10
I can read sight words: look, funny
Objective: To read sight words: look, funny (RF.K.3)
Materials: rolling pin, vanilla wafers, ziploc bag, tray, sight word cards
Procedures: Place several cookies in a ziploc bag. Have your child crush the cookies with the rolling pin to make fine crumbs. Pour the crumbs onto a tray. Tell your child she is going to learn two new sight words. Display the sight word ‘look’ and read it to your child. Have your child trace ‘look’ with her finger. Then she will copy the word by writing it in the cookie crumbs, saying each letter and then the word. Repeat several times and then do the same exercise with the word ‘funny’.
Conclusion: Have your child read the two new sight words again and write them on lined paper.
