This writing prompt will spark your child’s creativity when he pretends to be a wizard, combining two things to invent something new!
Medieval Magic – Lesson 12
I can write about a magic potion.
Objective: To use inventive writing to write a story. (W.K.1)
Materials: journal, pencil, crayons
Procedures: Talk about how wizards were scientists called alchemists. Their “magic” was actually science tricks. For this writing prompt, ask your child to pretend to be a wizard. He will write about two things he could mix together to form something new. Encourage him to use spaces between words, punctuation at the end of the sentence and to use letter-sounds that he hears in words. Write the real words under his sentence. Then he will illustrate his story.
Conclusion: Have your child read his story to you again. Talk about his clever picture and how his story made you smile.
