Medieval Magic – Lesson 20

I can write about a jester.

Objective: To use inventive writing to write a story. (W.K.1)

Materials: journal, pencil, crayons

Procedures: Talk about the role of the jester in a castle and ways he can make the king laugh. Ask your child to write how he would make the king laugh if he was a jester. Encourage him to use spaces between words, punctuation at the end of the sentence and to use letter-sounds that he hears in words. Write the real words under his sentence. Then he will illustrate his story.

Conclusion: Have your child read his story to you again. Tell him you liked his funny jester and how his story made you laugh.
