Acting out words is a fun way to improve reading skills and to develop gross motor skills.
Medieval Magic – Lesson 25
I can read and perform action words.
Objective: To identify action words (RF.K.3)
Materials: word cards, basket
Procedures: Write decodable action words on index cards such as swimming, jumping, hugging, cutting, humming, singing, hopping, running, jogging, etc. Place the word cards in a basket. Then play charades. Your child will choose a card and silently read the word. Then he will act it out for you and you will guess the action word. Then it is your turn to choose a card. Continue until all the words have been read.
Conclusion: Have your child read the words again and then write five of them on lined paper.
