What could be more fun than feeding a dragon to practice cvc words that end with “ck”.
Medieval Magic – Lesson 6
I can read cvc words that end with “ck.”
Objective: To read cvc words ending in “ck”. (RF.K.2)
Materials: tissue box, construction paper, wiggly eyes, glue, marker, word cards.
Procedures: Use a tissue box with a design that looks like dragon scales. Or cover one with paper. Add details to make it look like a dragon. Create decodable word cards ending in “ck”. Explain to your child that “ck” says /k/. When she reads a word ending in ck, she will only make the /k/ sound once. Have her pull a card from a basket. If she reads the words correctly, she may “feed” it to the dragon. Continue until the basket is empty.
Conclusion: Remove the words from the dragon. Your child will read the words again and then she will write them on a wipe-off board.
