“I can decode sentences.”
Objective: To decode sentences. (RF.K.2)
Materials: strips of paper, marker, basket, objects, tray
Procedures: Write decodable sentences on strips of paper. Place the sentences in a basket. Place several “decodable” objects or pictures on a tray. Explain that you are the commander of the spaceship and you are giving the chief astronaut commands to do.
Ideas for commands are:
- Put a lid on the pan.
- Pet the dog.
- Put the cob in the box.
- Put ten fish on the dish.
- Tap on the frog.
- Sip the red cup.
- Put the pen in the bag.
- Set the cub on the can.
Your “astronaut” will choose a sentence from the basket and perform the command.
