When teaching your child to read, you will need lots of pictures for activities such as, rhyming, beginning sounds, ending sounds, matching pictures to words, memory games, etc. You can create your own picture file using notecards and a box for filing. Just cut out pictures from catalogues, magazines, ads, old picture books or find printable clipart online. Glue the pictures to notecards and file them in alphabetical order. It is well worth the time and effort to create a picture file!
