With a little imagination, a box can become a fishing boat. And decoding sentences becomes a lot more fun!

Under the Sea – Lesson 9
I can read sentences.
Objective: To read sentences. (RF.K.4)
Materials: fish cut-outs, metal paper clips, marker, stick, string, magnet, blue plastic table cloth, box
Procedures: Cut our several fish shapes and attach a paper clip. Write a sentence on each. Tie a string to a stick and a magnet to create a fishing pole. Create a pretend ocean bythe placing the blue table cloth on the floor. Set a box in the middle for the boat. Place the fish in the “water” and your child will catch them. As each fish is caught, he will read the sentence to you.
Conclusion: Have your read each sentence again. Dictate two sentences for your child to write on lined paper. Then he can decorate his “boat” with markers.
